reliability test (see 4.4.2.7) and, when required (see 6.2), one PUS, selected
from the environmental test units, shall be subjected to the electromagnetic
susceptibility test (see 4.4.2.6).
4.2.2.2 Major components furnished separately. Major components furnished
separately shall be subjected to the tests marked "X" in column 1 of tables II
and III. Failure of any test shall be cause for rejection. Unless otherwise
specified (see 6.2), five units shall be subjected to each test.
4.3
Conformance inspection.
4.3.1 Sampling. Sampling for tests shall be in accordance with
ANSI/ASQC-Z1.4. Sample size shall be determined by using tables I and IIA,
special inspection level S-2. A lot shall be accepted when no defects are
found and rejected when one or more defects are found. Samples shall be
randomly selected from production lots.
4.3.2 Examination. Each PUS and each major component furnished separately
shall be examined for the major defects specified in 4.4.1. Presence of one
or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
4.3.3
Tests.
4.3.3.1
Individual.
4.3.3.1.1 Complete PUS. Each complete PUS shall be subjected to the tests
marked "X" in column 2 of table I. Individual testing of major components of
the complete UMS is not required. Failure of any test shall be cause for
rejection.
4.3.3.1.2 Major components furnished separately. Each major component
when furnished separately shall be subjected to the tests marked "X" in column
2 of table II or III, as applicable. Failure of any test shall be cause for
rejection.
4.3.3.2
Samples.
4.3.3.2.1 Complete PUS. Each sample, selected in accordance with 4.3.1,
shall be subjected to the tests marked "X" in column 3 of table I. Individual
testing of major components of the complete PUS is not required. Failure of
any test shall be cause for rejection.
4.3.3.2.2 Major components furnished separately. Each sample major
component when furnished separately, selected in accordance with 4.3.1, shall
be subjected to the tests marked "X" in column 3 of table II or III, as
applicable. Failure of any test shall be cause for rejection.
4.4
Inspection procedure.
4.4.1 Examination. The PUS and major components when furnished separately
shall be examined as specified herein for the following major defects:
101.
Components missing or not as specified (see 3.1, 3.1.1, and 3.1.2).
102.
Assembly not correct (see 3.1, 3.1.1, and 3.1.2).
103.
Materials not as specified (see 3.3).
104.
Materials are not resistant to corrosion and deterioration or treated to
be resistant to corrosion and deterioration for the applicable storage
and operating environments (see 3.3.1).
105.
Dissimilar metals as defined in MIL-STD-889 are not effectively
insulated from each other (see 3.3.2).
106.
Used, rebuilt, or remanufactured components, pieces, or parts
incorporated in the PUS or major components when furnished separately
(see 3.3.3).
107.
Interchangeability not as specified (see 3.8).
